Further Information

  • Hakusan Chugu Onsen became very popular with snowboarders

  • ...but they were not allowed to ride the top T-bar lift

  • Both skiers and snowboarders could get up to the top course using another pair lift

  • The top Dynamic course by that pair lift was left un-groomed

  • Hakusan Chugu Onsen opened a relatively large area for floodlit night-time operations, including the half-pipe

  • It was usually open until 10pm on weekdays

  • At one time it was open for 'all night' until 5am on Sunday mornings in peak season

  • The All Night Hanabi in CHUGU firework display was a popular feature in February

  • Hakusan Chugu Onsen was well known for relatively cheap ski lift tickets

  • When it opened, Hakusan Chugu Onsen was in Yoshinotari Village  吉野谷村

  • Yoshinotari Village became part of Hakusan City in February 2005

  • There appears to have been a few changes to lift configurations over the years

  • Some old course maps show that at one time the base 340m pair lift was actually two pair lifts that ran in parallel

  • By 2000 only one of those lifts was operating and only one was shown on course maps

  • In 2023, at least the base ski lifts remain in place

  • In the same valley as Hakusan Chugu Onsen, Hakusan Ichirono Onsen remains open but the nearby Hakusan Sena Kogen closed in 2012
