Tsuruga Kokusai was a ski area located by the side of Route 161, about 15km to the south of the central area of Tsuruga City in Fukui Prefecture. The still-operating Kunizakai Kogen Snow Park is located on the other side of the road. Tsuruga Kokusai closed in 2003 but abandoned facilities remain to this day.

  • Tsuruga Kokusai was located by the side of the main Route 161 road
    　
  • It is about 15km to the south of Tsuruga City in the southern region of Fukui Prefecture, close to the border with Shiga Prefecture
    　
  • Tsuruga Kokusai closed in 2003 but the base buildings, facilities and lift still remain - almost as if they were just abandoned at short notice
    　
  • The buildings in particular are in a rather derelict and decayed state
    　
  • Unfortunately this ski area is probably more well-known now than it was when it was operating, especially with people who enjoy exploring abandoned ruins
    　
  • Everyone else would surely prefer that the facilities were demolished and the area cleared up
    　
  • The still-operating Kunizakai Kogen Snow Park ski area is located close to Tsuruga Kokusai
    　
  • The Number 2 pair lift of Kunizakai Kogen Snow Park is directly across the road

  • Side note: The 'Kokusai' in the name translates to English as 'International'
