一色国際スキー場 岐阜県高山市

Isshiki Kokusai was a ski area located in Shokawa Village in the northern region of Gifu Prefecture. Shokawa is now part of Takayama City. Isshiki Kokusai once had four operating ski lifts and was known as having a relaxed old-school feel. The upper 40 degree slope was also a popular feature. Isshiki Kokusai opened in 1974 and closed in 2008.

Further Information

  • There were four ski lifts at Isshiki Kokusai but, in later years, the top 514m single lift was not operating

  • The steep 40-degree 'wall' in the upper area of Isshiki Kokusai was a popular feature

  • All the guidebooks mentioned Isshiki Kokusai as having a relaxed, friendly, old-style atmosphere

  • As with many Japanese ski areas in the 1990s, snowboarding was not allowed on all of the courses

  • A 1996 ski guidebook says that the patrol decided on how much terrain would be available to snowboarders each morning

  • It also recommended phoning the ski area to check if the 40-degree course would be open - it was often not able to open due to snow cover issues

  • The official reason for Isshiki Kokusai closing was the declining skiing population and revenues

  • While the lower lifts have been removed, it appears that at least part of the two upper lifts still remain in place

  • What seems like the concrete foundation of the lower ski lift (right-hand side) also remains

  • The Hida Shokawa Isshiki-no-mori Camp Area recreational facility  飛騨荘川 一色の森キャンプ場  is still operating  by the side of the base

  • Shokawa Village  荘川村  became part of Takayama City  高山市  in February 2005
