Kogen Chiba Mura

Kogen Chiba Mura was a recreational and leisure facility that was operated by Chiba City in the prefecture of the same name. It included accommodation, tennis courts and onsen hot springs - as well as this small ski area that had one rope-tow lift. Non-residents of Chiba City could use the facilities, though Chiba residents enjoyed cheaper rates. All the facilities were closed down on 31st March 2019, after which ownership was transferred back to Minakami town. The town since started looking for a new owner.

  • The rope tow lift was in the upper half of the slope shown in the above photos
    　
  • It last operated in 2017 when it encountered problems
    　
  • There were plans to repair the lift, but that never happened
    　
  • After 2017 the area was used for sledding and snow activities without the use of a lift

  • Accommodation at the nearby Kogen Chiba Mura facility was a prerequisite to use the ski hill, making it more like a members club than a facility for the general public
    　
  • Kogen Chiba Mura was located about 5km to the north of the Sarugakyo Onsen hot springs area of Minakami Town
    　
  • The Sarugakyo Onsen area is also known for a bungy jump facility off the nearby 60+m bridge and the pretty Akaya Lake  赤谷湖

Just off Prefecture Road 270, about 5km to the north of the central Sarugakyo onsen hot spring town area of Minakami town in Gunma Prefecture.
About 17km from the Tsukiyono IC exit and 15km from the Minakami IC exit of the Kanetsu Expressway.
About 16km from Jomo Kogen on the Joetsu Shinkansen line.
