津別スキー場 北海道津別町

Tsubetsu was a ski area located to the south-east of central Tsubetsu Town and Kitami City in the eastern region of Hokkaido. It featured a nearly 3km long gondola as well as two pair lifts, with fine views of Lake Kussharo from the top. Tsubetsu opened in 1991 and closed in March 2007. After closing the lifts and facilities were removed and the mountain was returned to nature.

Further Information

  • The 6-person and 2,988m long gondola lift was the most easterly gondola lift in Japan
     
  • The resort featured an FIS approved slalom course and three snowboard parks
     
  • Artificial snow making machines were used on some courses
     
  • From the top of the gondola there were fine views of Lake Kussharo over to the east...
     
  • ...and the Oakandake and Meakandake mountains to the south
     
  • Tsubetsu was owned and operated by the Prince Group
     
  • As with other resorts they owned, once the lifts and facilities were removed efforts were made to return the area to nature
     
  • Between September 2009 and October 2011, over 87,000 Scots pine seedlings were planted
