Snow Park Unpenji was a ski area at the top of the Unpenji Ropeway in Kanonjo City. This location is near the summit of Mt Unpenji and within Kagawa Prefecture very close to the border with Tokushima Prefecture. The ski area opened in 2001 and had one triple lift - and some fine views over the Seto Inland Sea. It closed in 2020 after struggling with snowfall, a decrease in the number of visitors and increasing costs. The ropeway remains open.

  • Unpenji Ropeway  雲辺寺ロープウェイ  opened in March 1987
    　
  • This 101 person capacity cablecar lift is 2594m in length and takes about 7 minutes to climb to the top of Mt Unpeni  雲辺寺山
    　
  • The base station is at an elevation of 260m, and the top station at 916m

  • The ski area featured one triple lift and one main ski run with a steepest gradient of just under 20 degrees

  • The official reasons for closing were recent warmer winters, the drop in the number of visitors, the high cost of using artificial snow-making machines

  • Unpenji Temple  雲辺寺  is also located near the top station of the Ropeway
    　
  • The top area is now known as Unpenji Sancho Koen  雲辺寺山頂公園
    　
  • It features some large swings and a cafe
    　
  • The beautiful views looking north across the Seto Inland Sea 瀬戸内海  remain unchanged!
