Hanase
Kyoto City, Kyoto
花背スキー場 京都府京都市
Hanase was a ski area in the Sakyo Ward of northern Kyoto City. Hanase opened in 1929, making it one of the oldest ski areas in Japan. At one time, as many as 3500 skiers visited Hanase in a day, and there were long queues for the lift. However, the location did not get consistent snowfall in later years, and the ski area closed in 1989.
