Sasari

Nantan City, Kyoto

佐々里スキー場 京都府南丹市

Sasari was a ski area in Miyama Town, now part of Nantan City, in Kyoto-fu. With very few appearances in old guidebooks from previous decades, little is known about this old ski area. It had one lift and was closed by the early 2000s, possibly much earlier.

Further Information

  • Sasari Ski Area was located in Miyama Town 美山町

  • Miyama Town became part of Nantan City 南丹市 in January 2006

  • Sarari was only featured in a few available guidebooks from the 1980s and 1990s, though even some of that information seems clearly incorrect *

  • For example, the guidebooks said the base elevation was 300m, and the top elevation was 700m

  • Modern maps show the base to be around 430m and the top around 580m

  • There was definitely one ski lift, but it is unclear what type of lift it was

  • The guidebooks both said 'rope tow', but old photos of the remaining lift look more like a supported single lift

  • It appears that in more recent years the slope has been used by local for sledding by local families

  • Confirmed details cannot be found, and it's all a bit of a mystery

  • * Side note: There really was a lot of incorrect information in some of these old ski guidebooks!
