Hakuba Minekata was a ski area located to the south-east of the central area of Hakuba Village in Nagano Prefecture. Hakuba Minekata was smaller than the more famous ski resorts on the other side of the valley. It featured a 5km cross country course in the top area. Hakuba Minekata closed in 2014 after about 50 years of operation and the lifts have since been removed.

Further Information

  • There was skiing in this location dating back to around 1955 with just a 100m rope-tow lift
    　
  • The first ski lift was installed around 1963
    　
  • At one time there were three lifts operating at Hakuba Minekata with two from different areas around the base and only the third going to the top
    　
  • Dates are unconfirmed, but at some point a 942m long pair lift from base to the top was added...
    　
  • ....and the southerly lift from the base area was decommissioned
    　
  • The top Number 3 lift was not operating in the later years before the ski area closed
    　
  • There was a 5km cross-country course at the top area of Hakuba Minekata
    　
  • There were various owner changes over the years
    　
  • An additional car park about 700m down the road from the base of the ski area can still be found, along with signage (last photo above)
    　
  • In recent years, the lifts and base buildings have all been removed
