Myoko Tsubodake was a ski area located in Myoko City in Niigata Prefecture. It appears that Myoko Tsubodake first opened in 1961 and closed in the mid 1990s but further details are proving difficult to find. The nearby Kyukamura Myoko RunRun, Myoko Ski Park and Seki Onsen remain operating.

Further Information

  • Myoko Tsubodake was located behind the main road that continues to Seki Onsen and Tsubame Onsen (Prefecture Road 39)
    　
  • The approach is now just a narrow dirt path
    　
  • It is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main road to what was once the base of the ski area
    　
  • There is no remaining evidence that there was once a ski area was in this location
    　
  • A guidebook from the late 1980's shows that one ride on the ski lift cost 70 yen and six rides cost 350 yen
    　
  • Myoko Tsubodake was apparently managed by a Tokyo university affiliated college
    　
  • There are fine views looking south towards Mt Myoko from the top of the old ski area
